Most people tend to get into angling after a friend’s recommendation of the hobby, and invariably if the friend is a sea angler, they will try beach or boat fishing. Alternatively, a freshwater angler will recommend to try freshwater fishing. But what of those contemplating the hobby with no-one to guide them in one direction or another?
For the complete novice who has no guide, whether they wish to try freshwater or saltwater fishing, they should go for general purpose rods, reels and tackle. Don’t begin species fishing, whether fresh or saltwater, until you have spent time mastering how to use your equipment.
